Discovering Safety Within
Learn how discovering safety within can help you develop personal patterns of safety, discernment, and peace, to replace your pain with ease.
Patient Pacing Helps With Pain Management
As you read this website, you’ll see I have written a lot of content, which can feel overwhelming if you try to read it all at once. Discovering Safety Within is not about cramming as much knowledge into your head as you can; instead, I want to help you pace yourself, understand what you are learning, and find practical ways to integrate it into your life.
Knowledge liberates, but not if it is overwhelming you. When we work together, I prefer to use the pace you feel most comfortable with. If you try to add too many ideas into your daily life at one time, nothing will stick.
The goal is meaningful change, so be patient with yourself and approach life one bite at a time. When you do, it creates opportunities to stop and smell each fragrant flower.
The Three Pillars
Discovering Safety Within is built on three pillars:
- Building Safety
- Sharpening Discernment
- Quieting the Noise
As you move through your personalized program, you will learn to develop your own patterns of safety, sharpen your discernment, and create your own peace.
Building Safety
Building Safety introduces you to the safety already present in your life. It helps you see through the dark lens that often clouds your vision, so you can witness the abundant blessings around you. Sometimes you just need a guiding light to show you how delightful life is and remind you how to have hope.
This pillar helps shift your focus from “I am broken” to “my pain is my brain trying to protect me.“
Sharpening Discernment
Sharpening Discernment helps you understand how to have a relationship with pain, to empathize with it, and learn its language. Pain is a protector, and like all guardians, it can be our knight in shining armor, or an overprotective parent. In Sharpening Discernment, you will learn how to differentiate the two and use this information so your pain serves you.
This pillar helps shift your focus from “every painful sensation needs the same urgent response” to “some sensations need care, and others need calming.“
Quieting the Noise
Quieting the Noise reveals how your emotional state can influence your physical perception of pain. It helps you understand how stress and anxiety can confuse how and where you feel sensations, and why you hurt in areas that have never been injured. You will also learn methods to turn down the volume of your stress and anxiety so you can prevent molehills of discomfort from becoming mountains of pain.
This pillar helps shift your focus from “more pain always means more damage” to “increased pain can just mean I am more stressed.”
