About Pain Management
Jennifer Brand Spa
Primary Goals
I want you to be pain-free, every second of each day, to know hope, and have the skills to cope no matter what tries to get in your way.
Pain Management Goals
- To inspire you with hope. Hope is the faith of knowing everything is going to be okay.
- Help you reduce central and peripheral sensitization. Reducing central sensitization helps to reduce the amplification of your pain.
- Provide your brain with patterns of safety. This helps your brain choose appropriate neurotags so you can live your best life and avoid unnecessary pain.
- Help you learn and integrate active coping pain management strategies. This takes the form of Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE).
- Help you achieve your highest quality of life.
Treatment Approaches
All pain management massages are personalized, but they tend toward one of the following goals: Provide Targeted Relief, Promotion of a Healthy Range of Motion, Nonspecific Pain Reduction, Anxiety or Stress Reduction, or Sensory Desensitization.
- Provide Targeted Relief
- Promotion of a Healthy Range of Motion
- Nonspecific Pain Reduction
- Anxiety or Stress Reduction
- Sensory Desensitization
Many of my clients experience transformative results in one or two sessions, but the most significant benefits take place after your brain recognizes a pattern of safety over several sessions.
Pain Management Classes
Each pain management session includes a learning component to help you develop a healthy relationship with your pain. My goal is to do more than just help you feel better today; I want to show you how to feel better every day.
The reading material for these classes is available below. Additionally, each class includes related articles you can read to expand your Pain Neuroscience Education!
- Knowledge Liberates: Understanding why and how it hurts is therapy.
- Danger Sensors: There are danger sensors, not pain sensors.
- DIM SIM Balance: Pain depends on the balance between danger and safety.
- The Brain Creates Pain: Pain involves distributed brain activity.
- Multiple Protective Systems: When danger persists, multiple protective systems can become turned up and edgy.
- Bioplasticity: Our body and brain can adapt.
- Coping Strategies: Active treatment strategies promote recovery.
Learning about pain can help you and others.
Shawn’s attentiveness is like no other massage experience I’ve had. This is more than relaxation, his philosophy about pain and how he structures his sessions have made a huge impact for me in only two visits. I highly recommend seeing him if you have any aches and pains and really want to let go of them for good.

Pain Management Massage
Shawn is beyond amazing! I could barely walk when I went to see him, and with only one massage, I was able to move without excruciating discomfort.
Cindy Mojeske
Pain Management Massage
Definitely one of the best and most comprehensive massages I’ve had. Shawn shared his knowledge about pain feedback loops and his incredible life experience. This undoubtedly helps him connect to people and his craft in a really thoughtful and unique way.

Pain Management Massage
This was my first of many visits to Shawn, the owner, what a gift. I came in with a lot of pain; not only was I received at the door by a gracious gentleman, but I was showered with gifts upon my exit as well as thoroughly taken care of at the table. Shawn has out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to delivering the body from pain and healing concepts. I am very grateful to have embarked upon his spa. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Shawn gave an excellent massage that truly helped my lower back pain. He was attentive, professional, and really listened to what my body needed. I left feeling looser, relieved, and so much better. Highly recommend!
