Nerve Pain
Nerve Pain Is A Unique Sensation
I have lived with various degrees of nerve pain for years, ever since I went through chemotherapy and had my right lung removed.
Nerve pain is a unique sensation. For me, I have experienced it as numbness, cold, electrical shocks, a burning sensation that feels like a candle licking my skin, or as extreme as a blow torch melting my flesh.
I used to live with extreme nerve discomfort for many years, and I found it challenging to describe it to people who have never experienced it. This can worsen the anxiety of nerve pain, because most people won’t understand the intensity and type of pain you are enduring.
Nerve Pain Can Break The Scale
Have Hope
The Pain Can Go Away
Yes, the pain can go away. I know you may have people in your life, perhaps even physicians, telling you that the pain is here to stay. Stop listening to them in this regard. If you believe their statements, how will you ever have the hope that anything will ever get any better?
Hope is an instrumental component of pain management. You will never begin to feel better until you decide that you can.
Say it out loud, “I am going to get better!” I mean this: just reading it or whispering it to yourself is not enough. Say it loudly and with vigor. “I AM GOING TO GET BETTER!“
Look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself, “I AM POWERFUL!” Give yourself strong eye contact and take it seriously. Say it again with more force behind your words, allow your voice to carry the might of your soul. “I AM POWERFUL AND CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING!“
You Are Powerful
You Can Rise Above It
I used to live in extreme degrees of pain and agony, but today I am pain-free. I found my way to this state by having hope, forgiving what I cannot change, making the most of my moments, celebrating my purpose, and doing a lot of pain neuroscience research.
I found my way through the storm, and you can too. I am just like you; the only difference is that I have developed a relationship with my pain.
